Terms of service
Last updated: 26 August 2026
1. The service
validkit provides an HTTP API that validates phone numbers, email addresses and IP addresses, plus a dashboard for managing keys, credits and bulk uploads. Using the API or the dashboard means you accept these terms.
2. Accounts and API keys
You are responsible for keeping your API keys secret and for all usage under them. We store only a hash of each key, so a lost key cannot be recovered — revoke it and issue a new one. Do not share an account between organisations.
3. Credits, plans and expiry
- Every validation costs one credit, whatever its type.
- Pay-as-you-go credits never expire. They remain in your wallet until you spend them.
- Subscription credits are granted monthly and roll over while the plan is active.
- Free-tier credits refresh every 30 days and do not accumulate.
- Requests that fail with a 4xx or 5xx error do not consume credits.
- Rate limits apply per plan and are published on the pricing page.
We will not raise the price of an active subscription without notifying you by email first and giving you the chance to cancel before it takes effect.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use validkit to:
- Validate data you have no lawful basis to process.
- Build or clean lists for unsolicited bulk email, SMS or calls.
- Enumerate, harvest or guess addresses or numbers you were not given.
- Resell raw validation results as a competing validation service.
- Circumvent rate limits or credit metering, including by registering multiple free accounts.
We may suspend an account for any of the above. You are the controller of the personal data you submit; see the privacy policy.
5. Accuracy and limits
Validation is an assessment, not a guarantee. We publish the limit of every check in the documentation and return a confidence level and explanatory notes on every response — including when we could not verify something. An email deliverability verdict of "deliverable" means the domain accepts mail, not that the mailbox exists. The IP risk score is a published, additive heuristic over public reputation sources. Use the confidence field. Do not treat a result as proof.
The service is provided as is, without warranty. We are not liable for decisions you make on the basis of a validation result, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding three months.
6. Availability
We do not currently offer a contractual uptime SLA. We will publish one before we offer any plan that claims it.
7. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel a subscription at any time from the billing page in your dashboard — no email, no retention call, no form. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period and your remaining credits stay in your wallet. If something went wrong on our side, write to us and we will refund you.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will email account holders before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
